Gophers Split at OSU Mizuno Classic

GAME ONE
STILLWATER, Okla. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers responded from tied 3-3 in the sixth inning to win in exciting fashion, securing a 4-3 victory over the No. 22 Arizona State Sun Devils Saturday.
Senior Autumn Pease (12-3) got the win for Minnesota (19-9). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out nine.
Offensively, the Gophers were led by senior Sydney Strelow, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a double, a home run, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Taylor Krapf put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run, two walks and an RBI. Senior Natalie DenHartog also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Golden Gophers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Minnesota's offense produced a three-run output that included home runs from both DenHartog and Krapf.
The game remained tied until the seventh inning, when the Gophers got going again on offense. Minnesota picked up a run on Strelow's leadoff home run off of senior Marissa Schuld, which brought the Gophers lead to 4-3. The score remained 4-3 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota held on for the win.
