Game Themes Announced for 2023 Season

Minnesota will host a Gold Out, Stripe Out and Maroon Out in upcoming season
The University of Minnesota football team is in the middle of spring practice, which means the 2023 season is just a few months away.
Gopher Athletics announced today the game themes for the upcoming season, which will start on Thursday, Aug. 31 when Minnesota hosts Nebraska at Huntington Bank Stadium.
The 2023 football game these are listed below.
August 31 vs. Nebraska – Gold Out / Champions Day
Fans are encouraged to wear Gold for the 2023 home opener against Nebraska. Minnesota will also recognize Gopher student-athletes who earned a team or individual conference or NCAA championship during the 2022-23 academic year at halftime.
September 9 vs. Eastern Michigan – High School Band, Dance and Cheer Day / AG Day
Local high school marching bands and spirit squads are invited to participate in the Gopher football pre-game and halftime festivities. Any local Minnesota High Schools interested in learning more can reach out to mnmarch@umn.edu or gopherspiritsquad@gmail.com
September 30 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette – Stripe Out / Homecoming
Fans are encouraged to wear either Maroon or Gold based on their seating location, as each section in Huntington Bank Stadium will be assigned a color to complete the Stripe Out. The University of Minnesota will also be celebrating its 2023 Homecoming on campus and the royalty selections will be announced at halftime.
October 7 vs. Michigan – Little Brown Jug Game
Minnesota hosts Michigan for the first time since 2020 and the battle for the Little Brown Jug returns to Huntington Bank Stadium.
October 28 vs. Michigan State – Parent and Family Weekend
The University of Minnesota hosts parents and families on campus Oct. 27-29. Special ticket packages will be made available this summer for parents and families visiting campus for the games.
November 4 vs. Illinois – Salute to Service
Gopher football is honoring all active duty and retired service members on Nov. 4. The community can support service members and help provide them with tickets to this game by making a gift HERE.
Nov. 25 vs. Wisconsin – Maroon Out / Senior Day
Gopher fans are encouraged to wear Maroon for as Minnesota will honor its senior class prior to the game against Wisconsin.
