Incoming Freshman Cameron Christie Set to Compete in National 3-Point Championship

Incoming Golden Gopher men's basketball freshman Cameron Christie is one of 12 high school athletes to compete in the 2023 Rocket Mortgage High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, announced today by the organization. Christie is one of four individuals competing in the 3-point championship.
The 12th annual event, which will showcase the dunking and long-range shooting talents of 12 of the country's premier high school seniors, will take place at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston on Friday at 7 p.m. CT. CBS will air the event at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT on Sunday. The players will compete in a number of different events during the competition, including the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship, the TaxAct Boys and Girls 3-Point Championships, and the Applebee's Team Shootout. The winners of the Boys and Girls 3-point competitions will square off in the Rocket Mortgage Battle of the Champions.
Christie, a 6-5, guard from Arlington Heights, Ill., capped off his high school career with Rolling Meadows High School this winter. A 2023 First Team IBCA All-State and First Team Sun-Times All State, Christie finished as the school's second-leading scoring and set a school record 101 three-pointers. He averaged 25 points, five rebounds and four assists as a senior. The All-Area Boys Basketball Captain, Christie helped Rolling Meadows to a 91-22 record the past four years. As a junior in 2021-22, Christie surpassed 1,000 career points and averaged 22 points at Rolling Meadows.
