Ten Gophers Garner Academic All-District Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Ten University of Minnesota student-athletes have earned spots on the 2023 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
Representing the Minnesota men were Justen Close and Rhett Pitlick from men's hockey, Bailee O'Reilly and Isaiah Salazar from wrestling and men's golfer Ben Warian. On the women's side were gymnasts Gianna Gerdes and Mya Hooten, women's hockey players Skylar Vetter and Grace Zumwinkle, and rower Annie Moen.
To be considered for a CSC Academic All-District Team, nominees must have met the following criteria:

To be considered for a CSC Academic All-District Team, nominees must have met the following criteria:
• Nominated athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
• Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
• No student-athlete is eligible until they have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
• In the cases of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above both as an undergrad and in grad school.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 21 for the men and June 22 for the women.
