Gophers Add DeBord to Roster

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota softball head coach Piper Ritter has announced the addition of transfer Morgan DeBord to The 'U's roster for the upcoming season. DeBord joins the Maroon and Gold after four years at Loyola Marymount in California.

During her senior season at LMU, DeBord started all 50 games for the Lions. After averaging .307, with 28 RBI, 47 hits and slugging .588, she was named to the 2023 WCC All-Conference First Team. DeBord finished the 2023 season at the NCAA Stanford Regional.

As a junior, she played and started 54 games, batted .476 in 166 at bats. After finishing with a .956 fielding percentage with 83 putouts, DeBord was handed 2022 WCC All-Conference Second Team honors.

In 2021, DeBord saw the field 31 times making 30 starts. She led the Lions with a .345 batting average in 87 at-bats and was top three in hits (30), home runs (16), and stolen bases (8) and second in runs (19). 

Despite a shortened 2020 season, the Portland, Ore., native started all 22 games. She totaled 22 hits, with four doubles and two home runs. As a freshman, she finished tied for second on the team with 17 RBI.

DeBord is a Glencoe High School graduate and the daughter of Darcy Marie and Benjamin Alan DeBord. She is the youngest of three sisters, Jessica and Sydney. Her mother played club softball at Washington State University and her father played football at Southern California.
