This is the first time the midfielder has received a Big Ten Weekly Honor

MINNEAPOLIS - Graduate midfielder Megan Nemec has been honored by the Big Ten for her opening weekend performance against Niagara and New Hampshire, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Nemec was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career as a Golden Gopher.

Nemec, a native of Tinley Park, Ill., led the offense through the Maroon and Gold's first two matches. The midfielder scored three goals, a brace against Niagara and one against New Hampshire, dished out four shots (0.750 SOG/SOG%), and secured six points.

The midfielder leads the Big Ten and co-leads NCAA in game-winning goals (2), and co-leads Minnesota and the Big Ten in goals scored (3) and points (6).

This is the first Big Ten Weekly Award Nemec has received. She is the first Gopher to receive Offensive Player of the Week nods since fellow teammate Sophia Boman last season (Sept. 13, 2022).

Nemec and the Golden Gophers travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to face Milwaukee on Thursday at 7 p.m., and Marquette on Sunday at noon. Thursday's match can be streamed on ESPN+ and Sunday's game will be live on FloFC, all times are central.
