Minnesota Drops Road Contest to No. 16/16 Indiana, 85-62

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota women's basketball team knocked down 6-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc, shooting 40 percent from deep, in an 85-62 loss to No. 16/16 Indiana at Assembly Hall on Wednesday night.
The Golden Gophers (13-4, 3-3 B1G) had three players score in double figures, led by freshman Grace Grocholski, who had 19 points. Mara Braun added 14 points, all coming in the second half, and added two steals while Amaya Battle chipped in 13 points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 20-13, Minnesota went on a 5-0 run with 1:35 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Grocholski, to narrow its deficit to 20-18. Indiana answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Golden Gophers down 23-18 entering the second quarter.
The Golden Gophers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 47-29 halftime deficit.
Indiana continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 54-35 advantage before Minnesota went on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Braun, to trim its deficit to 54-41 with 5:17 to go in the third. Indiana countered and stretched its lead to 64-47 heading into the fourth. Minnesota played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 18 third-quarter points in the paint.
Minnesota could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 85-62. Minnesota pulled down four offensive rebounds to score six second chance points out of 15 total in the period.
