Minnesota Finds Consolation Success on Day 3 of ITA Regionals

Memphis, TN - The University of Minnesota tennis program competed in the third day of the four-day 2024 ITA Regional Championship. Ten Gophers participated in various consolation rounds, with Aiva Schmitz, Mia Liepert, Anlin Xie, Yinong Ma, Nora Knezevic, and Deniz Turan securing victories.
Minnesota was eliminated from the doubles main draw as sophomores Ma and Xie lost in today's round of 32, falling 3-8 to Oklahoma's Gloriana Nahum and Chloe Noel.
Freshman Deniz Turan advanced to the finals of the B-Draw round, defeating Loles Carbo Chova of Arkansas State and Aziza Aubin of North Dakota. She will face Gian Octa of Missouri in the finals tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
Next Up
The Gophers continue competing in various single consolation main rounds on Saturday, once again beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CT) at Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Schmitz and Liepert will compete in the main draw consolation rounds tomorrow, while Knezevic, Xie, Valitova, and Ma will participate in the D-Draw rounds. Deniz Turan will also compete in the B-Draw finals.
