Kicker made four field goals and totaled 13 points in 25-17 win at No. 24 Illinois
University of Minnesota kicker Dragan Kesich was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week today after his standout performance in Minnesota's 25-17 road win at No. 24 Illinois on Saturday.
Kesich was also honored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl, as he was recognized as one of their three "Stars of the Week."
Kesich went 4-of-4 on field goals against the Illini and converted from 20, 45, 38, and 46 yards, as he made one field goal in every quarter. Kesich also made his only point-after attempt and his 13 points (1 PAT, 4 FG) were a career high.
His four made field goals tied a career high – as he made four at Iowa last year in a 12-10 win – and he is now the fifth kicker in school history with multiple games of four or more made field goals, joining Adam Bailey, Mike Chalberg, Jim Gallery and Dan Nystrom in doing so.
Kesich has now made 36 career field goals, which ranks eighth in school history.
This is the third Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honor for Kesich, which is tied for the most in school history with Bailey and Emmit Carpenter. Kesich, who was named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year last season, was recognized as Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 5, 2023, and October 23, 2023.
