Vetter Named WCHA Goaltender of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota junior Skylar Vetter has been named WCHA Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Vetter shut out the No. 10 Huskies of St. Cloud State on Friday evening en route to collecting her 12th win of the year and third shutout. The Huskies outshot the Gophers 24-20, but Vetter's 24 saves secured the 1-0 win for Minnesota.
The Lakeville, Minn. native is the Gophers record holder for saves in a single game which she set on Oct. 27 of this season against Ohio State. She has tallied 1,411 saves to date for her career, allowing just 1.86 goals against her on average.
This is the ninth time in Vetter's career that she has been named WCHA Goaltender of the Week. She earned the recognition for the first time this year on Jan. 8 after picking up a win over No. 11 UConn.
The Gophers (24-5-1) head to Madison, Wis. on Friday, Feb. 16 and Saturday, Feb. 17 to take on the No. 3 Badgers. Puck drops are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT and 2:00 p.m. CT, respectively.
