Minnesota posted a team score of 196.425

BOISE, Idaho -- The No. 16 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team (11-5, 6-3 B1G) placed third at the Boise State quad on Friday night at ExtraMile Arena with a score of 196.425. Washington took first with a score of 197.200 while Boise State took second (196.825) and UC Davis placed fourth (195.425).

"I think the team responded really well after a tough first rotation," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "It wasn't the way we wanted to start the meet, but in the next three rotations we had some of our highest event totals of the season."

Mya Hooten took home event titles on floor (9.950) and vault (9.925), her 13th and 14th event titles in 2024. Lauren Pearl tied her with a floor event title at 9.950. This was Pearl's first event title of the year. Pearl tallied career-highs on both floor and vault (9.875) tonight.

"We've been spending so much time as a team on our landings and being intentional," Hansen said. "I think Lauren has even spent extra time there to be honest. She's been making little adjustments and it definitely showed up for her today."

Gophers senior Gianna Gerdes posted a career-high 39.575 in the all-around to finish first. Gerdes' former career-high was 39.525 against Michigan on Feb. 10, 2024. Her best events were 9.925 scores on floor and bars (won event title). She earned a 9.875 on vault and a 9.850 on beam as well. The next closest all-arounder to her was Washington's Skylar Killough-Wilhelm with a score of 39.550.

"Gianna had a really great day. She started off well and was consistent throughout. It was fun to see her finish strong and get that career-high," Hansen said.

Boise State's Adriana Popp won the beam event title as the only gymnast to hit a 9.900 tonight there. BSU's Emma Loyim and Courtney Blackson along with Washington's Skylar Killough-Wilhelm tied Hooten and Pearl for the floor title with 9.950s.
