Engeman is a Ga. Tech transfer from Excelsior, Minn.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota volleyball program has announced the addition of graduate middle blocker Kali Engeman to the program. An Excelsior, Minn., native, Engeman comes to Minnesota after spending the past three seasons at Georgia Tech. She'll have two seasons of eligibility left.
"We're elated at the opportunity to welcome Kali Engeman to the University of Minnesota," said head coach Keegan Cook. "Kali's experience, maturity, and passion for the long term success of the program were apparent early on in the recruiting process. As we learned more about her, it became clear that we had a unique opportunity to add an industrious and driven student-athlete to our team. Kali will add immediate depth to the middle blocker position and she will contribute competitively and culturally to the program."
She played in five matches during her time as a Yellow Jacket, posting nine kills (0.75 kills per set), seven blocks (0.54 bps) and five digs (0.42 dps). Engeman played in four matches in 2023, including posting a career-high five kills, two blocks and two digs on Oct. 8 at Virginia.
Engeman on her official visit to Minnesota
A two-time All-ACC Honor Roll selection, Engeman will pursue a certificate in strategic management from Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. She will enroll at the 'U' in June and take part in captain's practices before team practice officially begins in August.
"Joining the Gophers volleyball program is an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself," said Engeman. "As a Minnesota girl who grew up going to games at the Pav, it means so much going to a team that inspires so many girls around the state. I'm so happy to be coming home!"
In high school, she played under head coach Karl Katzenberger at Minnetonka H.S. for four years. The two-time team captain helped the Skippers win the 2018 Conference Championship and 2019 Section title. Minnetonka placed fourth at the 2019 Minnesota State Championships. Engeman also played for Northern Lights Volleyball Club.

In 2023, the 'U' went 17-13 (12-8 Big Ten) and went to the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32. The Gophers won an NCAA Tournament match for the ninth straight season and finished fifth in the conference standings in year one under head coach Keegan Cook.
