Wethington and Nicholson to Return for a Fifth Year

MINNEAPOLIS - Coach Brad Frost announced the return of two seniors for their fifth year on Wednesday - Audrey Wethington and Maggie Nicholson.

Wethington, a 5-7 forward from Edina, Minn., tallied 15 points for the Maroon and Gold in her senior season. She had four goals for the year, including one against No. 11 UConn. Wethington was also named a WCHA Scholar Athlete, WCHA All-Academic and a top-three finalist for WCHA Outstanding Student-Athlete. For her career, Wethington has 55 points in 133 games. 

On the national stage, Wethington also helped the U.S. claim gold at the 2020 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championships, and silver at the 2019 tournament.

Nicholson returns for her fifth season after tallying ten points in 2023-24. The 5-9 defender from Minnetonka, Minn. has doubled her point total in her senior season after scoring a combined 10 points in her first two seasons. 

Nicholson also spent time on the national stage with Wethington and Team USA. She helped the 2018 and 2020 U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team earn a gold medal at the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championships and also won a silver medal in 2019. Nicholson was named team captain for the 2020 team in Bratislava, Slovakia.
