Jones Promoted, Gleason Added to Athletic Performance Staff

MINNEAPOLIS – Willie Jones has been promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Performance - Football, and Dalton Gleason has been hired as Assistant Athletic Performance Coach - Football.
Jones joined the University of Minnesota athletic performance staff in June 2021 after spending six seasons on the strength staff for the Illinois football team. His tenure in Champaign began in April 2016 after seven seasons with the Nebraska football team. He started in Lincoln in 2009 and assisted in all of the day-to-day operations of the Huskers' strength and conditioning program.
Prior to his time at Nebraska, Jones started his coaching career at his alma mater South Dakota State, where he spent two years as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2007-09. He earned his bachelor's degree in health promotion from South Dakota State in 2007 and his master's degree in sport science from the school in May 2012. He lettered three times, while competing for the Jackrabbit football team from 2002-06.
Jones is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and a certified strength and conditioning coach. He is scheduled to receive his master strength and conditioning coach certification in May. Jones and his wife, Andrea, were married in May of 2013 and have three children, Krayton, Asher and Everly. He also has a son, Cameron.
Gleason comes to Minnesota after spending the past three years at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He started as a graduate assistant before being elevated to assistant strength and conditioning coach and then ending his time as assistant head strength and conditioning coach.
While with the Lopers, Gleason worked with the football, track and field, basketball, tennis, swimming, volleyball and wrestling programs where he designed and implemented high performance programs, as well as return to play programs and recruiting presentations. He also managed the teams' sports science program..
Prior to working at Prentiss Human Performance from October of 2019 to March of 2020, Gleason worked at the University of Nebraska as an intern for over three years. His first two years were spent with Olympic programs, while the remainder of his time was spent with the Husker football program.
A certified strength and conditioning specialist, Gleason obtained his undergraduate degree from Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in education and human science - nutrition, exercise, and health science, while he earned his masters in general kinesiology and sports sciences - sports administration from Nebraska at Kearney. He married his wife, Danielle, in August of 2021.
