Gophers Ink Calhoon for 2024 Season

Calhoon is the second addition to the team this summer
MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota soccer head coach Erin Chastain has announced the addition of graduate transfer defender Evelyn Calhoon to the Gophers' roster for the upcoming season. Calhoon will join Minnesota after playing her undergraduate campaign at Brown University.
"The University of Minnesota provides a unique opportunity for holistic growth, encompassing personal, athletic, and academic development," said Calhoon. "I look forward to pursuing my Masters of Public Health degree while competing in the Big Ten alongside passionate peers and teammates; supported by exceptional mentorship every step of the way."
As a sophomore, the All-Ivy Second Team honoree competed in 15 and started 11 of Brown's games in the center back position. She totaled 782 minutes, scoring a goal while assisting five others. She helped lead Brown to win its second straight and league-leading 14th Ivy League title.
During her junior campaign, she saw 17 games on the pitch, starting 14. From the back line, Calhoon scored on goal and added two assists to tally four points. Both goals assisted were game-winners. For the second year in-a-row, the Menlo Park, Calif., native helped Brown win its third straight and league-leading 15th Ivy League title.
As a senior captain, Calhoon competed in 17 games for the Bears. The Academic All-Ivy Team member collected three assists and four shots on goal. Despite falling in the first round of the Ivy League Tournament, Calhoon led the Bears to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
In total, Calhoon competed in 2,226 minutes, scored two goals and had 14 assists. She earned All-Ivy honors as a sophomore and earned CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-Ivy accreditation for her work in the classroom. She competed in three NCAA Tournaments and received two Ivy League titles.Â
Evelyn is the daughter of Lauren and Ken Calhoon and has two siblings, James and Louisa. She will be attending the University of Minnesota to earn her masters in public health.
