Jefferies Named to Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List

Jefferies played in all 13 games for the Gophers during the 2022 season before missing the 2023 season with an injury
University of Minnesota defensive lineman Darnell Jefferies was named to the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list today by the College Sports Communicators in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization.
Jefferies missed the entire 2023 season after sustaining an injury in training camp. The 2024 campaign will be the seventh season of college football for Jefferies. He spent 2018-21 at Clemson before transferring to Minnesota as a graduate student in January 2022.
Jefferies played in all 13 games for the Gophers during the 2022 season and made six tackles.
Jefferies and the Gophers open the season against North Carolina at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Huntington Bank Stadium. The game will be broadcast nationally by FOX and can be heard on the Gopher Radio Network.
