Beers Named Academic All-American

Beers is the seventh Gopher Academic All-American to play for head coach P.J. Fleck
University of Minnesota offensive lineman Ashton Beers was named an Academic All-American today by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Beers, who is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, was named to the second team.
Beers played in all 13 games and started nine on the offensive line as a redshirt sophomore in 2024. He started six games at right guard and three games at left guard and the Gophers were 6-3 when he was in the starting lineup.
The Slinger, Wis., native blocked for a Minnesota offense that averaged 26.15 points per game, rushed for 115.6 yards per game and threw for 222.15 yards per game. He also protected for an offense that rushed for 18 touchdowns and threw for 20, as the Gophers went 8-5 overall and ended the season with a bowl game victory against Virginia Tech.
Beers is the 10th CSC Academic All-American and seventh player to receive the honor under head coach P.J. Fleck. He joins Blaise Andries (three-time Academic-All American), Sam Renner (two-time Academic All-American), John Michael Schmitz, Jack Gibbens, Payton Jordahl and Gary Moore in being named an Academic All-American under Fleck.
Beers is the 28th Academic All-Americans in team history, and he is the first since Schmitz was honored in 2022. Prior to the current run, Minnesota last had 10 Academic All-Americans from 1993-2015.
