Hooten Earns All-America Honors for Fifth Straight Year

3/31/2025 12:26:00 PM | Gymnastics

She was named Second Team WCGA All-America on Floor

MINNEAPOLIS -- For the fifth straight season, University of Minnesota senior gymnast Mya Hooten has been named an All-American by the WCGA, the association announced Monday. Hooten was named a Second Team All-American on floor. She's now a five-time WCGA All-American on floor (four-time first team) and a three-time WCGA All-American on vault (two-time second team).

Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all-around earned All America honors. Second team All-America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.

A Woodbury, Minn., native, Hooten has earned nine perfect 10s in her career. In 2025, she holds a 9.930 NQS and a 9.914 average, a mark that ranks her in a tie for 14th in the country. She's won 10 floor event titles in 11 routines this year, only not taking home the crown at the Big Ten Championships. She hit a season-high 9.950 twice, and went 9.925 in six meets.

On vault, Hooten won four event titles, hitting 9.900-or-better each time with a high of 9.950 at New Hampshire and Ohio State. She finished 21st in the country with a 9.900 NQS, narrowly missing second team WCGA All-America honors. On bars, she won a pair of event titles and hit 9.900 three times, including a season-best 9.950 vs. Nebraska.

An eight-time WCGA All-America honoree, Hooten joins Lexy Ramler (2018-22) as the only Gophers to earn WCGA All-America honors in five consecutive seasons.

No. 10 Minnesota (15-3, 8-1 B1G) will begin postseason play in the NCAA Regionals on Thursday, April 3 at the Salt Lake City Regional, hosted by the University of Utah. They'll compete in the regional semifinals against No. 4 UCLA, No. 23 Southern Utah and Boise State. The meet will take place at 2 p.m. CT/1 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
