• The Gophers hold a 17-player roster this spring and will add freshman outside hitter Kelly Kinney (West Palm Beach, Fla.) this summer.
• Freshmen early-enrollees Carly Gilk (Opposite/Brooklyn Park, Minn.), McKenna Garr (DS/L, Rush City, Minn.) and Jordan Taylor (Middle Blocker/Houston, Texas) have been training with the team this spring in addition to transfers Lourdès Myers (Middle Blocker/Purdue) and Georgia Lee (Setter/Rutgers).
• Minnesota's experienced returnees include outsides Alex AcevedoJulia Hanson and Mckenna Wucherer, middle Calissa Minatee, opposite Lauren Crowl, DS/Libero's Zeynep Palabiyik and Kate Thibault.

NELLIE COLEMAN JOINS PROGRAM AS GM AND ASSISTANT COACH
• In January, Nellie Coleman (Spicer) was hired by coach Cook as the team's general manager and assistant coach. The position is the first of its kind in NCAA volleyball and serves to help Minnesota volleyball transition into the modern era of collegiate athletics.
• A former member of the U.S. National Team (2008-13), Coleman also played professionally for five years (2009-14). She was a three-time First Team AVCA All-American as a setter at UCLA from 2005-09. Coleman earned her first coaching experience as an assistant at Portland University from 2014-16. She then spent the 2017 season as a director of operations at Arizona State.
• "As someone from the Midwest with a deep appreciation for the history and traditions of Minnesota volleyball, I recognize that it is both an honor and a privilege to represent this program and university," Coleman said. "These are pivotal years for these student-athletes so I can't wait to continue to help them excel on and off the court."

MINNESOTA VOLLEYBALL IN 2024
• Minnesota heads into the 2025 season after making the Round of 32 for the second straight year but improving to a 21-11 (13-7 Big Ten) record. The Gophers tallied two top-10 ranked wins in 2024, including their first win over a No. 1 ranked team since 2019.
• All-American and First Team All-Big Ten outside Julia Hanson returns to pace the Gophers while five newcomers (three freshmen, two transfers) were added this spring.
• The Gophers lose three All-Big Ten players in setter Melani Shaffmaster, opposite Lydia Grote and middle Phoebe Awoleye. Redshirt freshman Stella Swenson is expected to take over starting duties at setter while there will be an open competition at opposite. Redshirt senior Purdue transfer Lourdès Myers and freshman Jordan Taylor were added to provide depth and skill to the middle spots.
