University of Minnesota head men's basketball coach Niko Medved has announced the addition of Jaylen Crocker-Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) to the Golden Gopher program. Crocker-Johnson reconnects with Medved after playing his sophomore season at Colorado State.
"I'm really excited to continue working with Jaylen here at Minnesota," Medved said. "Jaylen is a great inside-outside forward that can space the floor with his shooting ability. He's a versatile defender and has a great physical presence as a rebounder and post scorer. In addition, Jaylen's just an outstanding human being and someone you want in your program."
Crocker-Johnson, a 6-foot, 8-inch forward, played in all 36 games for Colorado State this past season and started in 29. Crocker-Johnson ranked third on the team when he averaged nine points and 4.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes played. In Mountain West action alone, he averaged 10 points a game, shot 53.8 percent from the field, and averaged 4.4 rebounds. Crocker-Johnson held a career-high 21 points last season and also produced career-bests in field goals (7), three-pointers (4), free throws (6), blocks (4), and steals (2) during his CSU tenure. Prior to his time at Colorado State, Crocker-Johnson played his freshman season at Arkansas Little Rock, where he was named the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference's Freshman of the Year. He played in all 34 games for the Trojans, including 33 starts, and averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds his rookie season.
