USA U19 Team Update: Kinney, Taylor Lead Team into Quarterfinals

Osijek, CROATIA -- Rallying from a 2-1 set deficit, the U.S. Girls U19 National Team edged Germany, 3-2 (25-18, 26-28, 17-25, 25-15, 15-13) in a Round of 16 match on Tuesday at the 2025 FIVB Girls U19 World Championship in Osijek, Croatia.
With the win, the U.S. (4-2) reached the quarterfinal round and will face Italy (6-0) Friday, July 11, at 2:15 p.m. CT. Fans can watch on VBTV or on the Volleyball World YouTube channel. All four teams in the Round of 16, including the U.S., from Pool C reached the quarterfinals.
Gophers freshman middle blocker Jordan Taylor had seven blocks and contributed five kills with an ace to lead Team USA while fellow rookie Kelly Kinney tallied a kill and an ace in the Round of 16 win. The two have been staples in the star-powered U.S. lineup throughout the six matches and have helped the team get to within three matches of a gold medal finish.
Remaining teams in the competition include Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Italy, Japan, Poland and Turkiye. The quarterfinals are set for tomorrow with the semifinals and finals slated to be played on July 12 and 13.
