Geers Lands on Preseason Watchlist for John Mackey Award

Geers caught 28 balls for 290 yards and four touchdowns in 2024

Minnesota tight end Jameson Geers was named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 John Mackey Award. The award is presented annually to the best tight end in college football. 

Geers posted a breakout season for Minnesota in 2024, when he caught 28 balls for 290 yards and four touchdowns. He posted career highs at Rutgers when he hauled in eight passes for 73 yards and he scored a touchdown in three of Minnesota's final five games of the season. 

The Channahon, Ill., native has played in 33 career games and has 32 career catches for 312 yards and five scores. He has been named Academic All-Big Ten three times. 

Geers and Minnesota start the season on Aug. 28 when they host Buffalo at Huntington Bank Stadium.
