Minnesota volleyball legend Andrea Gonzalez earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in all four years of her Gopher career, along with All-Region honors three times.
She was Minnesota’s first volleyball player in the NCAA era to be named to an All-America team, with second-team honors in 1988.
Gonzalez recorded five matches of at least 30 kills in her career, and three matches with both 20 kills and 20 digs. She once made a record 41 kills in a match, and was the Big Ten career leader in kills with 2,140 at the close of her career.
She was the 1989 Minnesota Senior Athlete of the Year, and a member of that 1980s Big Ten Volleyball All-Decade team and of the Golden Spikers, Minnesota’s Volleyball Hall of Fame.
