She was second for low score for 18 holes with a 67 at the Indiana Invitational in 1977, and for 36 holes with a 143 at the same event. Her 1978 season scoring average was 76.55, fourth-best-ever at the U of M.
Williams won the AIAW Region 6 Championships in her freshman and sophomore years. She shared in Minnesota’s first Big Ten team title in 1978, and placed 23rd at the 1980 AIAW National Championship.
She was Gopher team captain for three years, an AIAW All-American, the Evans Scholar Athlete of the Year, a Patty Berg Award Recipient, and the U of M Senior Athlete of the Year.
After an LPGA career, Williams coached at Minnesota from 1991-1999. She was Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 1992, Big Ten Coach of the Year 1992, and LPGA Midwest Coach of the Year in 1998.
