Chip Lohmiller - M Club Hall of Fame

Chip Lohmiller
Football, 1984-1987
HOF Class of 2002

Chip Lohmiller made Gopher history as one of the program’s greatest kickers, earning first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-America honors in 1987.

At the close of his Minnesota career, Lohmiller was second in career scoring with 268 points. His longstanding records included most PATs in a game, with eight; most career field goals, 57; and highest field goal percentage, 76 percent.

His longest field goal was 62 yards, but his most important was probably one in 1986, when he beat Michigan in Ann Arbor on a last-second 30-yarder that gave the Gophers the Little Brown Jug.

Lohmiller played for nine years with the Washington Redskins and one each with the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams, retiring in 1996. As a pro, the Woodbury, MN native made 71.8 percent of his field goals and led the league in scoring in the 1991 regular season with 149 points.
