Linda Roberts
Women’s Basketball, 1977-81
HOF Class of 1995
Linda Roberts was one of women’s basketball’s biggest stars of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She graduated as the Gophers’ all-time top scorer, with 1,856 career points. She was also the program’s leading rebounder, and, in fact, set 17 school records. She closed her Minnesota career with averages of 14.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
Roberts was nominated for the Wade Trophy, awarded the nation’s top leading senior player. She was an AIAW All-Region selection in 1980, and the Gophers’ team MVP in 1979, 1980 and 1981. In that last year she led Minnesota to the AIAW national quarterfinals, and helped the team to an unofficial Big Ten title, too.
Linda Roberts’ jersey was retired in Williams Arena in 2006.
