Two-time All-Big Ten catcher Terry Steinbach finished his University of Minnesota career with a .375 batting average, a record. He was second in total bases, RBI and home runs, and third in single-season RBI.

The New Ulm, MN native then played 14 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins, posting a .271 career batting average.

His professional career highlights included winning the World Series with the A’s in 1989, and appearing in three All-Star games, being named All-Star Game MVP in 1991.

He closed his pro career with his hometown Twins, and became a hitting instructor for the club after retiring as an active player in 1999.
