Our Commitments
Educate the student-athlete community about the prevention of sexual violence and understanding that we all play a role in creating a safe and healthy culture.
Create intentional interactions on topics of sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and relationship violence, diversity, and inclusion
Promote equity, diversity and inclusion in the team and department spaces.
Help student-athletes understand how to approach these difficult conversations in a respectful manner.
Encourage vulnerability and open dialogue among all student-athletes.
 
Build healthy relationships within a team culture and beyond.
Encourage men’s involvement and leadership in discussions and education related to the prevention of sexual violence.
Work with teams on how to lead conversations about sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and relationship violence, diversity, and inclusion.
 
Equip our student-athlete community to prevent sexual misconduct and support victim-survivors.
Increase student athlete’s knowledge of and promote the use of campus resources.
Establish team resources and advocates through more intentional training 
Improve coaches and administrative training.
 
Promote a safe and inclusive space for all student-athletes.
Create pieces of training that are inclusive of all identities across gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, nationality, and disability.

Highlights from Athletes Supporting Advocacy and Prevention (ASAP)
  • Conducted the first meeting on September 23rd, 2019
  • ASAP is made up of 16 members representing 7 Gopher Athletics programs
  • Throughout the 2019 Fall semester, ASAP has met 5 times
  • Created and solidified their very own mission, vision, actions, and commitments
  • Facilitated Education and Dialogue in Freshmen First Year Course for 116 freshmen regarding Bystander Education and Intervention
  • Facilitated Education and Dialogue with Novice Rowing regarding Bystander Education and Intervention
  • Participated in Training/Education with Gabrielle Meade, Assistant Director - EOAA on Support, Mandatory Reporting, and Accountability (12/9/19)
