GET TO KNOW JESSIE HATHAWAY:
Why the University of Minnesota?
My grandparents live here in Minnesota, and I have been spending my summers here ever since I was little. I love it here, and it was an easy decision when they asked me to play here. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
What is it like playing for Minnesota?
There is no greater feeling than putting on my uniform and stepping out onto the field with my teammates. It is great looking into the stands and seeing all of our supporters cheering us on in the cold.
Favorite professor?
Tiffany Richardson. I have had her for the past three semesters, and I have loved all of the classes she has taught. She has such a great background and is willing to take the time to help us network. Not to mention, she is so interactive in the classroom, which makes it even better.
Favorite aspect of softball?
DEFENSE! I could care less about where I play as long as I can put a glove on my hand and get dirty out on the field.
Game/reality show you would like to be on?
Our team was a little obsessed with Jeopardy last year, so I would have to say that. It is such a fun show to watch and you always learn the most random facts.
If you had to play another sport to play other than softball, what would it be?
I would love to play beach volleyball. I play every chance I get because it is so much fun! I played volleyball in high school but being on the sand is a whole different feeling.
If you could choose one person (past or present) to eat lunch with, who would it be?
I would eat lunch with Mickey Mantle. He was an old family friend, and I would kill for an opportunity to talk with him and chat about everything that was going on back then.
Guilty pleasure song?
'Free' by Zac Brown Band
If your life had background music, what song/artist would be playing?
I would have a mix of Jack Johnson, Michael Jackson and George Strait. It all depends on my mood.
Bucket List
Scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef
Visit Ireland and England
See George Strait in concert
