Austin Starnes

Austin Starnes joined the University of Minnesota football staff in 2018 as the Assistant Director of Football Operations. He was promoted to Director of Internal Football Operations in February 2020.
Starnes assists the Director of Football Operations in planning the daily, weekly and monthly schedules, which includes training camp, spring practices and all travel that involves the team. He is the lead liaison with hotel staff at away games and leads an advance group of four staff members during away game travel. He also performs site visits at all future away game hotels.
He facilitates special projects throughout the Larson Football Performance Center as directed by head coach P.J. Fleck and coordinates all recruiting and satellite camp travel for head Coach Fleck and the program's 10 assistant coaches.
Starnes is also the project manager for the annual team banquet, which is a role that he has held since 2018. He also assists in the execution of P.J. Fleck RTB Football Camps, logs all student-athlete activity for the compliance office and communicates with all high school and junior college coaches on behalf of the program.
Prior to his time at Minnesota, Starnes spent the early part of the summer of 2018 as a training camp intern for the Los Angeles Rams. He aided in the operations of training camp practices by communicating with the partnership, community affairs and engagement, marketing and administration/operations teams to activate all fan-based initiatives. He also provided support to VIP Hospitality tents, player autograph sessions and in sponsorship activation zones.
Starnes spent August 2015 though May 2018 as the head recruiting and player personnel intern for the University of Arizona football team. Among his many duties he assisted in the planning and execution of official and unofficial visits, NFL pro timing days, camps, spring games, junior days, walk-on tryouts and was in charge of managing 15 interns.
