Fruechte comes to Minnesota, his alma mater, after serving as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at North Dakota during the 2024-25 seasons.

Under Fruechte, North Dakota averaged 32.9 points and 387.3 yards per game in 2025 and advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs. In 2024, North Dakota put up 30.8 points per game and 360.2 yards per game.

At North Dakota, his offenses often found success in the red zone and on third down while also controlling the time of possession.

Prior to North Dakota, Fruechte spent two seasons at Winona State as the Offensive Coordinator. He was elevated to Associate Head Coach and Quarterbacks Coach in March 2023 after helping guide the Warriors to the NCAA Division II playoffs and an 8-4 record.

Before Winona State, Fruechte was hired as the Offensive Coordinator at Northern State in December 2019 and helped lead the Wolves to a 7-4 record in his one season in 2021 (Northern State did not play any football games in 2020 due to the global Covid-19 pandemic). Fruechte also managed all offensive personnel and coached both the quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Fruechte led the wide receivers at Northern Iowa in 2019 and was on the coaching staff that led the Panthers to the quarterfinal round of the FCS playoffs that season. In addition to being the Wide Receiver Coach, Fruechte also oversaw the punt and kickoff return units.

Before Northern Iowa, Fruechte spent time at Wisconsin-La Crosse as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach in 2018. The Eagles averaged 32.1 points and 384.8 yards of offense per game and finished second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in both scoring and passing offense. He was hired in March 2018 to coach the wide receivers, but then transitioned that fall to coach quarterbacks and serve as the offensive coordinator.

From 2015-17, Fruechte played two seasons for the Minnesota Vikings. In 2016, he also had a six-game stint as a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions before returning to the Vikings.

He played receiver at Minnesota from 2012-2014. In his career, he had 50 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns and was also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
