At Michigan, Everett mentored the duo of Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards who combined for 1,537 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024.

Prior to Michigan, Everett spent the 2023 season at Vanderbilt. There he helped Sedrick Alexander earned SEC All-Freshman honors, the first Commodore since 2018 and the first Vanderbilt running back since Warren Norman to earn a spot on the all-rookie team. Alexander played in all 12 games and led the team in both rushing and rushing touchdowns. He led all SEC freshmen in rushing yards and was the only freshman in the league with four or more rushing touchdowns.

As a team, the Golden Hurricane ranked third in the conference with 192 yards per game.

Everett arrived in Tulsa after two seasons with Akron as running backs coach. With the Zips, running back Teon Dollard ran for 666 yards and six touchdowns on 112 carries. Dollard was the first running back and just the fourth offensive player in program history to earn first team All-MAC honors.

Everett also spent two seasons at Central Michigan before his time in Akron. There, he coached Jonathan Ward who ran for 1,019 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2017, adding 470 receiving yards. He was the first Central Michigan running back to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in three seasons and went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals before joining the Tennessee Titans.

Everett's first Division I coaching job came at his alma mater, Indiana State, where he spent four seasons as running backs coach while also serving as the program's recruiting coordinator in 2016. Shakir Bell notched 4,214 career rushing yards under Everett's tutelage, placing him second all-time at the school. In 2014, Everett helped the Sycamores reach the postseason for the first time in 30 years as they made the second round of the FCS playoffs.

Everett began his coaching career at Hutchinson Community college where he coached NFL All-Pro player Cordarrelle Patterson. Everett served as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Hutchinson.
