Lee Grimes

Lee Grimes is in his first season as an offensive graduate assistant at Minnesota.
Prior to coming to Minnesota, Grimes coached three seasons at East Texas Baptist University where he served as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.
Grimes helped the Tigers improve from a 3-7 record in his first year to a 7-3 record last season. In 2013, his first season at East Texas Baptist, Grimes coached the running backs and mentored Toi Glover as he rushed for 1,050 yards and nine scores. As an offense, the Tigers rushed for 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Grimes took over the offensive line in 2014 and the Tigers’ run game began to flourish, rushing for 1,980 yards and 24 scores that year and then churning out 2,101 yards and 34 touchdowns in 2015.
Prior to his time at East Texas Baptist University, Grimes was the offensive line and tight end coach for Lubbock Estacado High School. In his one year on staff, Lubbock Estacado made the Texas playoffs. Grimes began his coaching career at the University of Arkansas-Monticello as the assistant offensive line coach in 2010.
Grimes played at Texas A&M from 2005-10 and was a standout on the offensive line. He was named to Texas A&M All-Decade Team for the 2000s and was an All-Big 12 Second Team honoree in 2009. He graduated from Texas A&M in 2009 with a bachelor of arts in agricultural leadership and then spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers before retiring due to injuries.
Grimes, who is from Brownwood, Texas, was an all-state selection in high school in 2004 and 2005 and was voted onto the All-Century team and was a high school All-American along with being on Dave Campbell’s Super Team first-team in 2005.
He is married to former Texas A&M volleyball player Kristen Schevikhoven.
