    Assistant Defensive Line Coach
Malik Hollings joined the Minnesota football staff as a Defensive Graduate Assistant prior to the 2023 season. He was promoted to Assistant Defensive Line Coach in January 2024. 

Hollings has worked closely with the Minnesota defensive line and the results have been tangible. In 2022, the year prior to his arrival, Minnesota had 19 sacks and 47 tackles for loss. In 2024, the Gophers totaled 28 sacks and 66 tackles for loss. In 2022, the Gopher defensive line broke up seven passes, and in 2024 it broke up 14, led by Jah Joyner (7) and Jalen Logan-Redding (4). 

Hollings came to the Gophers are spending three months as a graduate assistant at Murray State. That came after two seasons as linebackers coach at Stevenson University, a DIII program in Owings Mills, Md. He coached four players to all-conference honors in his time with the Mustangs and helped the team post a school-record 15.6 points allowed per game in 2022.

Prior to that, Hollings was on the staff at his alma mater, Salisbury University, for three years. He worked with the Sea Gulls’ defensive line in his final season with the team. Hollings coached a pair of players to All-NJAC honors in the spring of 2021 as Salisbury captured the NJAC South division title with wins against Wesley and Christopher Newport. Prior to that, he worked with the outside linebackers, where he coached one All-Conference player and helped coach the defense to top-12 national rankings in four categories in 2018.

Hollins was a five-year letterwinner for the Salisbury football team. He graduated in 2019 with a degree in exercise science and minors in athletic coaching and psychology. In 2021, he earned his master's degree from Salisbury in health and human performance.
