Troy Williams

Troy Williams joined the Minnesota football staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach prior to the 2016 season.
Williams comes to Minnesota after spending two years as the strength and conditioning coordinator at Missouri S&T where he worked with student-athletes from all 15 programs.
Prior to Missouri S&T, he spent two years as the assistant director of strength and conditioning and strength and conditioning internship supervisor at Eastern Illinois University where he worked primarily with men’s basketball, women’s soccer and women’s rugby. He also assisted with football at Eastern Illinois and helped guide football to back-to-back conference championships in 2012 and 2013.
Williams was the linebackers coach and was the football team’s strength and conditioning coach at Truman State University from 2010-12. He also spent one year as a graduate assistant football coach and strength and conditioning intern at the University of Central Missouri.
Williams played football at Albany State (GA) University. He helped lead the Golden Rams to four straight conference championships, three NCAA Division II playoff appearances and a 2003 Pioneer Bowl win.
Williams received his master’s degree in physical education/exercise and sports science from Central Missouri (2010) and hold two bachelor’s degrees from Albany State: recreation (2007) and health and physical education (2008).
Williams is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and registered strength and conditioning coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also a sports performance coach through USA Weightlifting, and level one functional movement screen certified and y balance test certified. He is also a member of the collegiate strength and conditioning coaches association.
