Cody Stout joined the University of Minnesota athletic performance staff prior to the 2024 football season and is an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance.
Stout came to Minnesota from South Alabama where he spent three seasons (2021-23) as an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning with the football program. Prior to his time at South Alabama, he spent three seasons (2018-2020) at Colorado as an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning where he worked primarily with the football team.
Stout joined Colorado after a stint at Southern Mississippi (2017) where he worked with the baseball team while also serving as an assistant with the football program. He was also in charge of the school’s graduate assistant career development program while at Southern Mississippi.
Stout served as an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at Arkansas State during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and was a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southern Mississippi in 2014. In the spring 2014 semester he was a volunteer intern at LSU where he worked with the football, baseball, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball programs.
During the 2013 season he was a volunteer intern athletic performance coach at Missouri where he assisted the strength and conditioning staff in the training of the football team.
Stout earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science from the University of Indianapolis in 2014 and his master's degree in exercise science from Southern Mississippi in 2015.
Stout played on the defensive line at the University of Indianapolis in 2010 and 2011. He is a native of Rockville, Ind. and graduate of Rockville High School.
He holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), USA Weightlifting (Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certification) and the American Red Cross (First Aid).
Stout and his wife, Tara, have one son (Dakota).
