Paul Anderson is an Assistant Equipment Manager with the University of Minnesota football team. Anderson has been at Minnesota since 2018, but assumed his current role prior to the 2019 season.
The Maple Grove, Minn., native graduated from Iowa State in 2017 after spending four years as a student equipment manager with the Cyclones. Upon graduation, he spent the 2017 season on the equipment staff at the Virginia Military Institute. At VMI, he worked primarily with football, but also assisted with other sports.
Anderson returned to Minnesota in May 2018 as an equipment intern and then transitioned into a full-time role in January 2019 and worked with cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, track and field and wrestling.
In July 2019, he moved into his current role and works strictly with the football program. Anderson hires and supervises a staff of 20 student managers and also arranges equipment needs for practice. He serves on the advance team for all road games and supervises locker room and hotel set up. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the equipment room, including ordering, inventory, equipment fitting, maintaining and upkeep of equipment and the decal of game helmets. Anderson also assists in the packing and unpacking of the equipment truck for all games.
Anderson is also AEMA (Athletic Equipment Managers Association) Certified.
