Tanner Snustead was named Recruiting Assistant for the University of Minnesota football program in 2023. He was promoted to Coordinator of Scouting Operations in March 2024 and was named Assistant Director of Player Personnel in February 2025.

In his current role, Snustead coordinates the evaluation process and recruiting board management (both digital and physical), while ensuring that all information is current  and correct. He also oversees the pipeline of recruiting evaluations between the recruiting and the coaching staffs throughout the year. Snustead tracks all recruit measurements and distributes that information to the coaching staff. He also ensures compliance of the scouting operation, organizes all academic and athletic recruit information and monitors athlete evaluations. 

As a recruiting assistant, Snustead focused on evaluating film of high school recruits and transfer portal prospects. He also provided feedback of current roster needs and development of players on the Minnesota roster, tracked recruits who were committed to the Gophers, assisted the recruiting staff for unofficial, official and game day visits, updated recruiting areas for full time assistant coaches and helped assist NFL scouts on their visits.

Prior to Minnesota, Snustead was at his alma mater, Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he worked as a student assistant football coach and then was an assistant coach in an internship. Snustead helped coach the linebackers, quarterbacks, and special teams. He ran drills during practice, including signaling offensive plays during practice and games and break down film of opposing teams and recruits. He also participated in recruiting efforts for the Eagles. 

Snustead graduated from La Crosse in 2021 with a degree in exercise and sport science - sport management. He is currently working toward his master's degree at Minnesota in sport management.
