2018 Season - Indoor: Ran 12 races with appearances in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay and made one appearance in triple jump • ran a career-best 8.02 in the 60m at The Dual • ran career bests in the 200m (25.60) and 400m (56.91) at the Iowa State Classic • placed sixth in triple jump with a career-best mark of 10.25m (33-07.50).

2018 Season - Outdoor: Named Minnesota’s Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sportsmanship Award recipient • named CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and Academic All-Big Ten • received Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship • ran 12 races, including seven appearances in the 400m hurdles • ran a career-best 59.89 to win the 400m hurdles at Louisville • anchored the 10th-place 4x400m relay (3:42.24) and placed 14th in the 400m hurdles (1:00.22) at the Big Ten Championship • ended the season ranked 10th in the 400m hurdles (59.89) among all-time Gophers • named an alternate for the 4x400m relay at the NCAA Championship.

2017 Season - Indoor: Ran 12 races with appearances in the 60m, 200m, 400m, 60m hurdles, and 4x400m relay • ran career-best times in the 60m hurdles (8.99), 60m (8.23), 200m (25.67), and 400m (57.22).

2017 Season - Outdoor: Named USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and Academic All-Big Ten honoree • ran 11 races with eight appearances in the 400m hurdles and three in the 4x400m relay • ran 400m hurdles PRs in six races, including four consecutive races • took over three seconds off her 400m hurdles time, going from 1:03.35 to 1:00.17 • ran a career-best 1:00.17 in the 400m hurdles to place 10th and anchored fourth-place 4x400m relay at the Big Ten Championship (3:39.53) • NCAA West Prelim qualifier in 400m hurdles, placing 30th in 1:00.99.

2016 Season - Indoor: Ran seven races with appearances in the 200m, 400m, 600m, and 4x400m relay • won the 400m in a season-best 1:00.88 at the UST Invite • won the 600m in a career-best 1:38.99 at the St. Thomas Showcase • anchored the first-place 4x400m relay (3:58.02) at the Parents Day Invite • ran a season-best 27.19 in the 200m at the Minnesota Open.

2016 Season - Outdoor: Ran the 400m hurdles at five meets • ran a season-best 1:03.35 to place sixth in the 400m hurdles at the Rock Chalk Classic.

2015 Season: Competed unattached during both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

High School: A 2014 graduate of Lakeville North High School • 2013 Minnesota Class AA state participant in 100m hurdles (seventh place) and triple jump (17th place) • 2013 all-state honoree • three-time All-South Suburban Conference honoree • three-time academic all-state honoree • competed in Nordic skiing and soccer for Lakeville North HS • finished high school with 4.31 GPA and ranked sixth in her class • National Honors Society member.

Personal: Born July 7, 1996 • daughter of Dave and Kari Smits • has three siblings, Joey, Alyssa and Lauren • mother, Kari, competed in cross country and track & field at UW-Eau Claire • major is neuroscience.
