Head women’s basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit announced the addition of Adam Marso as the University of Minnesota’s Director of Basketball Operations on July 24, 2023. Marso returns to Minnesota, his alma mater, after stints at North Dakota and Henderson State.
"In our Director of Basketball Operations role, we have added Adam Marso," head coach Dawn Plitzuweit said in July of 2023. "Adam is a detail oriented individual with a great deal of experience in this facet and he is also a Minnesota alum."
From 2021-23 Marso served as an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota after spending the previous two seasons as the Fighting Hawks Director of Basketball Operations. While working as an assistant coach the past two seasons the Fighting Hawks accrued an overall record of 34-28 and Marso helped coach two First Team All-Summit League student-athletes and two All-Defensive Team members.
Marso spent the 2018-19 season as an Assistant Coach with the women's basketball program at Henderson State, helping the Reddies to 18 wins and the program's seventh appearance in the Great American Conference Tournament. Before HSU, he spent two seasons at Arkansas State as the team's Director of Operations. The Red Wolves made a run to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Quarterfinals in his first season and recorded an eight-win improvement the following season that included a 70-69 victory over Florida. While scheduling and managing the team's travel, Marso also handled facility scheduling, arranged community service and promotion engagements for the staff and team, assisted in the team's social media efforts and coordinated the team's meals when on the road.
Before working for the Red Wolves, Marso spent two years in Minnesota, where he served in the role of Special Assistant to the Head Coach. In two seasons with the ‘U’, the team amassed 43 victories and received berths in both the WNIT and NCAA Tournaments. Prior to joining the women's basketball staff, Marso gained experience as a student intern with the University of Minnesota marketing team and worked with Gopher Sports Properties for one football season, assisting with sponsorship execution. He has also worked for the Iowa Cubs and served as a youth camp director.
Marso earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sport management from the University of Minnesota in 2014 and received a minor in management from the Carlson School of Management.
