    Volunteer Assistant Coach

The 2015-16 season marks Stephen Michel's second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Gopher women's track & field team. Michel provides assistance with the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and multi-event groups.

Michel spent the 2013-14 season as a volunteer assistant coach for Augsburg College. In his one year at Augsburg, Michel helped coach one student-athlete to a MIAC Outdoor Conference title in the long jump.

Michel competed for the University of Wyoming as a sprinter and horizontal jumper from 2008-13. During his career at Wyoming, Michel achieved All-Mountain West Conference performances in the triple jump (2010 indoor, 2010 outdoor) and the long jump (2013 outdoor). Michel also competed at the 2010 NCAA West Prelims in three individual events (100m, long jump, triple jump) with his best finish placing 24th in the triple jump (50-0.25). He has marks in the top-10 all-time for the 60m, 100m, 200m, long jump and triple jump at Wyoming.

Michel graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and is finishing up a master's degree in Microbial Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He completed his USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification in 2013.
