SEARS NAMED BIG TEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

60-Minnesota junior Neketa Sears was named the Big Ten Conference women's track and field athlete of the week. Sears broke the Minnesota record in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday at the unscored Minnesota Open at the University of Minnesota Field House. She posted a time of 8.79 to win the event and break the old mark of 8.82 set in 1981 by Lisa Hanson.
