UniversThe University of Minnesota's 11th-ranked men's swimming and diving team defeated the 14th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers by a score of 171-129 Saturday at the Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers had eight first-place finishes out of the 16 events in the meet. Senior Martin Zielinski had two-first place finishes in the dual meet with the Cornhuskers. He won the 100 back with a time of 49.45 and tied with fellow teammate junior Ryan Crosby for first place in the 200 back with a time of 1:51.89. Sophmore Alex Massura, who was recently a member of the Brazilian 400 relay team that broke a world record at the Brazilian National Championships in December, took first place in the 100 free with a time of 45.17.

Minnesota's 200 Medley relay team of Zielinski, junior Oscar Godoi, freshman Chad Krastins and freshman Ricardo Dornelas posted a time of 1:29.86, good enough for first place in the event. It was a season best for the Golden Gophers in that event and also provisionally qualifies them for the NCAA Championship meet in April.

Sophomore diver Dan Croaston won the 1-meter competition with 328.35 points and took second in the 3-meter competition with 340.35 points.

The Golden Gophers' season continues next weekend when they travel to Dallas, Texas for the Dallas Morning News Invite.
