#17 MINNESOTA DEFEATS #16 IOWA 75-70

leSenior forward Quincy Lewis scored a game-high 29 points as Minnesota defeated Iowa 75-70 at Williams Arena Saturday afternoon. The Golden Gophers led by as many as 14 in the second half before Iowa cut the lead to two with 1:44 to play as Minnesota held on for the five-point victory.

In the first half, the Hawkeyes shot just 18.5% from the field, but made 11 of 12 free throws as they trailed 24-21 at the break. Iowa led 17-10 with six minutes to play in the half, before the Golden Gophers made a 14-4 run to end the half.

After a 17-foot jump shot by Kent McCausland cut the lead to one to start the second half, freshman Joel Przybilla slammed home a Lewis miss to make it 26- 23.

Iowa took its final lead of the game on a 15-foot jumper from Dean Oliver. With the Hawkeyes up 41-40 to play with 12:42 to play, sophomore Mitch Ohnstad hit a three-pointer that started a 22-7 run.

Up 62-48, the Hawkeyes started connecting from downtown. With the help of a 9-0 run, Iowa got to within two at 67-65. Lewis then hit a 12-footer and the Hawkeyes would never get any closer.

Clark scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half and senior Miles Tarver added 11 points and seven rebounds. Przybilla, the nation's leader in blocked shots, did not collect one in the game, but scored six points and pulled down seven boards.

Oliver led the Hawkeye effort with 24 points.
