ALUMNI TEAM DEFEATS VARSITY IN ANNUAL ALUMNI MEET

LeaThe University of Minnesota men's alumni gymnastics team defeated the varsity team by a score of 220.500- 206.100 in the 32nd annual alumni meet held Saturday afternoon at the Sports Pavilion.

Leading the way for the Golden Gophers alumni team was former three-time Big Ten all-around champion Tim LaFleur. LaFleur posted two-first place finishes in the floor exercise and parallel bars and came in second in the all-around competition with a score of 54.350. Frank Ticknor won the all-around title with a score of 54.750.

For the Minnesota varsity team, senior Jason Krob turned in the high score of the meet with a 9.800 on the pommel horse. Junior Lindsey Fang scored the highest for the varsity team in the all-around competition with a score 53.750. Junior Ryan Winterbourne won the still rings competition with a score of 9.500.

The Golden Gophers travel to Iowa City, Iowa next weekend to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in their first dual meet of the year.
