GOPHER PUCKSTERS LOSE AND TIE AT BOSTON COLLEGE

tThe Minnesota men's hockey team lost 8-4 on Saturday afternoon and fought back for a 3-3 tie on Sunday afternoon against the Boston College Eagles in Boston, Mass. The Golden Gophers (7-10-3) return to WCHA action next weekend at Denver.

In the series opener, B.C. jumped ahead 3-1 in the second period before Minnesota responded with goals by Ryan Trebil and Erik Westrum to make it 3-3 heading into the third period.

The Eagles then exploded with four goals in the first seven minutes of the third period. John Pohl added a goal at the 15:27 mark before B.C.'s Jeff Farkas scored his fourth goal of the game to make it 8-4.

On Sunday, the Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission before Rico Pagel scored in the second period. B.C. responded with a goal of their own and took a 3-1 lead. Minnesota again responded with goals from Wyatt Smith and Mike Anderson. Unlike the previous game, the Gophers held B.C. in check and after a scoreless overtime, managed to salvage a 3-3 tie.
