GOPHER GOLFERS FINISH NINTH AT JERRY PATE INTERCOLLEGIATE

Golden Gopher two-time All-American James McLean rebounded from an opening round 78 to fire a six-under par 65 in Tuesday's final round. McLean tied for 12th place individually. Senior All-American Martin LeMesurier tied for 30th in the 60-player field with a four-over par total of 217.
Clemson defeated UNLV in the second hole of a team playoff to capture the team title. Both squads set the pace with a 17-under par total of 835. Georgia finished third at 838, three strokes behind the Tigers and the Rebels.
Charles Howell of Oklahoma State claimed the individual title with a 12-under par total of 201. Paul Casey of Arizona State and Andy Sanders of Houston finished one stroke behind at 11-under par 202. Casey's opening round 65 was outdone by Sanders' final round 64 as the tournament's best 18-hole score.
The Golden Gophers will be back in action on Nov. 22-23 at the Stan Sheriff Invitational in Hawaii.
