10/22/1999 12:00:00 AM | Athletics

Adam Hauser pushed aside a career-high 44 shots to earn the tie.

Minnesota opened the scoring in the first period as sophomore defenseman Jordan Leopold took a pass from Erik Westrum, skated around the Fighting Sioux defense and put a shot past North Dakota goaltender Karl Goehring. The goal came on the power play for Minnesota.

North Dakota tied the game in the early in the second when Jeff Panzer converted a power-play opportunity for the Fighting Sioux with assists going to Bryan Lundbohm and Lee Goren. But Minnesota returned the favor just 19 second later when senior Dave Spehar put home a pass from Doug Meyer with freshman Jeff Taffe picking up a second assist.

North Dakota tied the game up at the 7:30 mark of the third period when Lee Goren beat Adam Hauser on a pass from Jeff Panzer.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow night at Mariucci Arena in the series finale.
