The teams battled evenly in the first half with Minnesota owning a slight 7-5 edge in shots during the period. The Gophers turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, outshooting the Badgers 12-4 to finish with a 19-9 shot advantage for the match.
Lee blasted the game winner just above the out- stretched arms of Wisconsin goalkeeper Kelly Conway and into the upper right corner of the net. The shot was set up by passes from Laurie Seidl and Liz Wagner.
Minutes later, Wisconsin (7-6-3, 3-5-1 Big Ten) mounted its best attack on the Minnesota goal. Midfielder Lauren Schmidt fired a shot that hit the right post and dribbled the length of the goal line before the ball was cleared by the Gopher defense.
Goalkeeper Dana Larson needed just three saves to preserve the shutout victory for the Gophers.
Minnesota's next match is Sunday, when the Gophers travel to face Evansville in Evansville, Ind.
Around the Big Ten, Penn State captured the Big Ten title with a 5-0 victory at Ohio State. The Nittany Lions are also awarded the top seed for the upcoming Big Ten Conference Tournament, held Nov. 5-7 in Bloomington, Ind.
