POWER-PLAY GOALS DOOM GOPHER WOMEN IN LOSS TO NORTHEASTERN

The Huskies dominated the Gophers early outshooting them 12-0 through the first 18 minutes of the game. Frosh Michelle Lorion's first career goal, was scored on the power play at 8:33 to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Minnesota's lone goal came less than two minutes into the second period when Ambria Thomas knocked the puck away from Northeastern goalie Erica Silva and banked a shot in off a Husky player to tie the score.
Colleen Coen put Northeastern ahead to stay with a power-play goal at 6:57 of the final period and Brooke Whitney scored twice after that to finish the scoring.
Erica Killewald kept the Gophers in the game by stopping 31 of 35 shots. It was the first time since Jan. 16, a span of 17 games, that she had allowed more than three goals in a game. Silva had 19 saves for Northeastern.
Following five consecutive games on the road, Minnesota returns home, Nov. 5, to face third-ranked Brown at 7:05 p.m. at Mariucci Arena.
